Dive Deeper: Psalm 100:1-2
“Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.” — Psalm 100:1–2 (NIV)
In these verses, kids learn that worship is one of the best ways we can show our love for God. The Bible tells everyone—every person and all of creation—to praise the Lord with joy. When we sing, shout, and worship with thankful hearts, it reminds us of God’s goodness and helps us focus on His greatness instead of our worries.
Activity Idea: Praise Parade
Have your child create their own “Praise Parade” to celebrate God’s goodness! Give them simple instruments—like homemade shakers, drums, or even pots and wooden spoons—and march around singing or shouting short phrases like “God is good!” and “Praise the Lord!”
Talk afterward about how worship can be joyful and expressive, just like Psalm 100 describes.
Additional Discussion Topics and Questions
Use these topics and questions to help your child think about what worship means and how they can praise God every day.
It can be helpful to break this verse down into four big truths:
1. Everyone is invited to praise God. “Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth” means all people, everywhere, are called to worship Him! God deserves praise from every voice and nation.
2. Worship God with gladness. We can praise God joyfully because He is good, faithful, and loving. Worship isn’t just about singing—it’s about having a thankful heart that shows joy in how we live.
3. Come before God with joy. When we spend time with God through prayer, singing, or reading His Word, we can come with joy because He loves us and welcomes us.
4. Our joy comes from who God is. We can be joyful no matter what because God never changes. His love gives us lasting joy that doesn’t depend on our circumstances.
