Dive Deeper: John 3:16
“....What does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” — Micah 6:8 (NIV)
This verse helps kids understand what it means to live in a way that pleases God. God doesn’t ask for fancy offerings or perfect behavior—He wants our hearts to be full of love, fairness, and humility. Micah 6:8 reminds us that faith isn’t just what we believe—it’s how we live each day as we walk closely with God.
Below you’ll find fun ways to explore this verse together through activities, discussion questions, and music that help kids see what it means to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly.
Activity Idea: Act Justly, Love Mercy, Walk Humbly
Create three columns on a sheet of paper labeled “Act Justly,” “Love Mercy,” and “Walk Humbly.” As a family, brainstorm examples of what each one looks like in real life.
Examples might include:
Act Justly: Tell the truth, treat others fairly, include everyone in games.
Love Mercy: Forgive when someone makes a mistake, be gentle, help a friend in need.
Walk Humbly: Pray before making decisions, thank God for blessings, listen to others before speaking.
When you’re done, choose one action from each column to focus on this week!
Additional Discussion Topics and Questions
In this verse, kids learn that following God means living with justice, kindness, and humility. Use these truths and questions to help your child see what that looks like every day.
It can be helpful to break this verse down into three big truths:
Act Justly
Doing what’s right means treating others with honesty and fairness. When we act justly, we show that we care about what’s right in God’s eyes, not just what’s easy.
Love Mercy
Mercy means showing kindness, forgiveness, and patience to others—even when they don’t deserve it. Loving mercy means we care about others the way God cares about us.
Walk Humbly with God
Walking humbly means remembering that God leads and we follow. We can depend on Him every day and trust His wisdom more than our own.
